My Worries...
If I am struggling with a four year old, how will I ever survive teenage years? We started with the Terrible Twos and it just continues. Where does the attitude come from? The sassy mouth? The mood swings? It is so hard to watch your child go through these stages sometimes. I know that she is fostering her independence but my worry lies in what she will do with it as it grows and who she will become. I want her to be a strong, independent woman; however, I want her compassion, kindness, and goodwill to be just as strong. Over the years, I have heard many parents say that their child is completely different at home. I have a true appreciation for that now. My fear is that this attitude will carry over to school. It seems to be carrying over a bit now. This week has been rough. Does anyone have advice to keep me going in the right direction?

The Big Top...
Today was Circus Day for Laney! Laney has been talking about this day for weeks!! The kids all dressed up like circus characters! There were so many very creative costumes. They went on a parade around the entire school. They were quite proud of themselves. They also played games and had a special snack (peanuts, popcorn, cotton candy, hot dogs, and munchy merry go rounds). Laney was so tickled!

Jessi is in love...
We have joked about Jessi's crush on her friend James since the first time they met. Now James has some competition...move over James, here comes Mickey Mouse. Jessi calls him "Monkey". She is just nuts over Mickey right now! It is exciting to see her get so happy over something. Laney fixated on Elmo! Jessi pretty much goes along with whatever Laney likes or does. She is stepping out on her own now. She is very opinionated too!

My girls are an inspiration...
Here I go again! My girls have inspired me to get into photography and now painting! Check out some of the paintings so far, www.2colormehappy.blogspot.com. Naptime is fun again! It is fun to get messy and try out different creations! Laney could paint all day with me! Of course, Jess thinks you are suppose to eat it!

Sometimes they make you laugh out loud...
On the way home, we were listening to a CD of songs about God. Laney was singing along and Jessi was headbanging in her seat...definitely different personalities. All of the sudden Laney looks at me and says, "All this time I thought this song said that God's name is Rob." I burst out laughing. It was funny in two ways...all this time...a whopping four years of life, one year of having the CD...and where in the world did the name Rob come from? I played back the song in my head and never figured out how she got that! Well, now we have to adjust our prayers...Bless us O Rob in these I give and...Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name, Rob.

Just call me grace...
This has just not been my week. Two days ago the side of my flat iron literally fell off. My hair began to cry in shock of not being straightened. Curly hair is just not an option. I look like a crazed person! Then, yesterday, I decided to take a short trip...down the stairs. Yes, I bruised my ego a bit. I slipped on a tutu on the stairs. The irony is that my own tutu is killing me because of the little tutu. Luckily, I did not break anything. My whole left side is very sore! I was lucky! All I could think about is...How will I ever get to the phone? Did I shave my legs today? Why is it that things that might involve a trip to the hospital only happen on days that you do not shave? New Year's resolution...shave everyday so that nothing bad can happen.

Field Trip...
Today we took Lisa to the mall to ride the carousel. Unfortunately, it is closed until February. Laney was extremely disappointed. I think Lisa was too! Ha! We ventured into the Disney store...heaven according to the girls. I thought Laney was going to jump into the middle of the plush animals. Laney could easily spend a million dollars in there in five minutes. She NEEDS everything. Jessi was happy to be along for the ride. We all had our picture made in the "booth". They girls had a great time making silly faces. Once we got home, we giggled, tickled, and played. What a great day!

Mrs. Murphy Strikes Again...
Well, Jess strikes again. She got a hold of my key again. This time I found it in the castle in the playroom. What does it mean when the 18 month old outsmarts you? Very concerning!

I am starting a new adventure tomorrow. My canvases will be displayed and sold at Plain Jane's Monograms in Lee Branch! I am very excited about this! A little nervous too actually! I hope my art can bring someone else joy! It makes me so happy to paint again! If you get the chance, please go by the shop and check out the artwork! She has lots of darling things in the shop!

A painting we will go...
These are the canvases I have painted so far for the playroom. Laney was just been tickled pink. She chose what she wanted me to paint: frog prince, crown, slippers, and fairy. I have gotten so into it now that I am working on two more. It has really been fun! I miss painting!! Does anyone have any suggestions for more canvases??? I am in a groove now!
You know those moments...
You know those moments when you look into your child's eyes and...
Well, that did not happen today. Today I was pretending to be the sick one. Laney was coming to my rescue as Little Red Riding Hood. Jessi was banging me over the head with her new hairdryer trying to make some sense of my hair. Laney covered me up with a blanket while Jess continued to fret over my hair. Next thing I know Laney says, "Well, I am going to need a screwdriver and a hammer." Of course, this could be a rather concerning statement. I responded with "Oh my! Is that going to hurt?" She said, "Don't worry Mommy I won't screw you. I just need the blankets not to fall down." Thank God I am not screwed!!!!!

Going commando...
My sweet little angel, Jessica, insists on going commando. She takes off her pants and then her diaper and streaks the house. She definitely has the free spirit!
From the mouth of babes...
Well, the holiday fuss is over. The decorations have been put away. I am trying to get some organization going again. Just when I am feeling good about getting things cleaned and put away...Laney comes over to me and says, "Our house is a wreck, Mom!" AHHHH! The sad part is that you could spend all day cleaning up with two little tornadoes in the house. I accept defeat! Let the chaos begin!
Actually, I am transforming our dining room into a playroom. The toys are all in there! YAHOO! It is actually working well minus the unbelievable amount of clutter in that room. I am working on painting canvases for the walls. Definitely going with the girly theme...tiara, frog prince, castle, ballet slippers, and a fairy! It makes me realize how much I miss painting! I may need a new gig after the playroom is done! Anyone need a canvas painted?

Firecracker, Firecracker, Boom, Boom, Boom...
Jessi woke up this morning looking like a firecracker went off in her hair. Her hair stayed that way all day! You gotta love it!
