Happy Halloween!

We went to have a playdate at the Mt. Laurel playground today. I had the great idea of going early to get a few pictures of my girls. Well...I absolutely love taking pictures of children! You see such joy and innocence captured in their faces. Somehow...when it is my own children, sweetness and innocence is not reflected in the picture taken. Jessi cried and tried to dive off a bench. Laney argues with me about everything. I am truly hoping that pays off one day...a lawyer maybe????? I get the clenched smile with gritted teeth only when she look at me occasionally. I would love to have one picture of the two girls together happy! Of course, I know better as a photographer; however, the mother in me overrides that! As the photographer, I see such beauty in both of my children. I want to capture each moment! As a Mom, my blood pressure went through the roof and I contemplated getting a glass of wine or better yet a margarita for lunch. Yet, I am already thinking about my next mission for a great picture of the girls. Maybe I should use duct tape to keep them both in the same spot! Anyway...here a few of the better pictures from our outing.

Stop, drop, and roll...

With our church playgroup, we visited the fire department for a tour. They did an outstanding job! We went through the firehouse. The girls saw where they sleep and listened to the alarm that wakes them up when someone needs help. We met "Bo" the fire cat. He was having a a very busy day holding down his bed. One fireman suited up so the kids could see what they would look like if they came to your house for a fire. They talked to the kids about fire safety. We had a tour of the "ladder" truck. Jessi sat in the driver's seat. Laney was a little unsure about all of it. Overall, we had a great time!! God bless all firefighters!

Boo at the Zoo

We had a great time at Boo at the Zoo. We met Dinah, Papa, and Lisa there as well as our friends, the Franklins. The whole way there Laney asked, "Where is Boo?" I kept saying, "At the zoo." After asking the question 50,000 times, she asked, "Is Jasmine there too?" It still took me a minute to catch on. She thought we were going to see Abu, the monkey from Aladdin, at the zoo. Trying to explain Boo at the Zoo was downhill after that. She forgot about it once we got there...thank goodness. Laney was Sleeping Beauty and Jessi was a ballerina/princess when she wore her tiara. Jessi was mesmerized by everything. They rode the haunted carousel backwards, visited the animals, and trick or treated a lot. Jessi caught on to getting candy very quickly. She refused to let anyone carry her pumpkin. She even held on to it during the car ride home. Laney's favorite part were the "sweethearts" aka sweettarts. The girls loved the whole experience!

I love preschool!

This week I went to Laney's classroom as a special guest. I read a story, The Little Old Lady Who Isn't Afraid of Anything. We acted it out as we told the story. The children loved it! Then we created jack-o-lanterns. We sponge painted our pumpkin orange and added a face. They turned out really cute. I also brought pumpkin sugar cookies for snack. They couldn't wait to eat them! Laney was tickled! She grinned from ear to ear the whole time! It was awesome getting to meet her friends. Those kids are darling! It was also awesome to watch Laney in her element. They had centers until lunchtime. I went to lunch and the playground with the class. It makes my heart so happy to see Laney so happy!

"Blue lipstick"

Laney's favorite part of going to the bank is, of course, the lollipop that the teller sends through the "magic carpet". As we are going home, she says, "Hey Mom, what do you think about me wearing some lipstick?" I laughed and said when you get a little older. She giggled and said, "How about blue lipstick?" I turned around and laughed out loud. Her whole mouth, chin, and teeth were blue! She was laughing like crazy!
